Copyright Policy
Copyright Policy
This policy describes the copyright and publishing rights for articles published in SMATIKA: STIKI Informatika Jurnal, published by the Research and Community Service Institute (LPPM), Universitas Bhinneka Nusantara.
1. Copyright Ownership
Authors who publish in SMATIKA retain the copyright of their articles without restriction. Copyright takes effect upon the article's first official publication in the journal and is not transferred to the journal.
2. Right of First Publication
By submitting a manuscript, the authors grant SMATIKA the right of first publication. Upon acceptance, the authors also grant the journal a non-exclusive right to publish, distribute, archive, and index the article and its metadata in databases, repositories, and indexing services.
3. Copyright Statement in Each Article
Each article states its copyright holder and licence ("Copyright © [year] by the authors", followed by the CC BY-SA 4.0 licence) on the article landing page (HTML) and on the first page of the PDF.
4. Author Responsibilities
Authors guarantee that the article is their original work and does not infringe the copyright or other intellectual property rights of any third party. Authors are responsible for obtaining written permission to reuse third-party material, such as figures, tables, or images, and for citing such material appropriately.
5. Transitional Provision
This policy applies to articles published from Vol. 16 No. 4 (December 2026) onwards. Articles published in earlier issues keep the copyright statement printed on them. For those articles, SMATIKA grants the authors the full right to use, reproduce, distribute, and archive their work without prior permission from the journal, provided that the original publication in SMATIKA is cited.
6. Website Content
The copyright of the journal website, including its design, logo, and non-article content, belongs to LPPM Universitas Bhinneka Nusantara and is separate from the copyright of the published articles.
This policy follows the principles of transparency and responsible publishing recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). See also the Licensing Policy.
