Duties of Editors

  • Publication decisions: the Editor-in-Chief, supported by the editors, decides which manuscripts are published, based solely on originality, scientific validity, relevance to the journal scope, and the results of peer review. Decisions are not influenced by commercial considerations, author fees, or the authors' institution.
  • Fair play: manuscripts are evaluated for their intellectual content without regard to the authors' race, gender, religion, ethnic origin, nationality, institution, or political views.
  • Confidentiality: editors do not disclose information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the authors, reviewers, editorial advisers, and the publisher, as appropriate.
  • Conflicts of interest: editors do not handle manuscripts in which they have a conflict of interest (for example, from their own institution or written by close collaborators); such manuscripts are assigned to another editor. Unpublished material from a submitted manuscript is never used in an editor's own research without the author's written consent.
  • Integrity of peer review: editors ensure that every manuscript is reviewed by at least two qualified, independent reviewers under double-blind review, and that the review process is recorded in the journal system.
  • Handling ethical concerns: editors respond to suspected misconduct, plagiarism, or data manipulation by following the relevant COPE flowcharts, and publish corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions when needed.
  • Use of AI: editors may use AI only for administrative or language tasks; AI does not replace editorial judgement.

Duties of Reviewers

  • Contribution to editorial decisions: reviewers assist the editor in making decisions and help authors improve their work through constructive comments.
  • Promptness: a reviewer who feels unqualified, or who cannot complete the review on time, should inform the editor and decline the invitation.
  • Confidentiality: manuscripts under review are confidential documents. They must not be shared, discussed, or uploaded to any AI tool or other online service.
  • Objectivity: reviews are conducted objectively, with clearly supported arguments; personal criticism of the authors is inappropriate.
  • Acknowledgement of sources: reviewers point out relevant published work that has not been cited, and inform the editor of any substantial similarity with other published work.
  • Conflicts of interest: reviewers decline manuscripts in which they have a competitive, collaborative, or other relationship with the authors or their institutions, and do not use privileged information for personal advantage.

Duties of Authors

  • Reporting standards: authors present an accurate account of the work and an objective discussion of its significance, with enough detail to allow replication. Fabricated, falsified, or knowingly inaccurate statements are unacceptable.
  • Originality and plagiarism: authors submit entirely original work and properly cite or quote the work and words of others. Manuscripts are checked for similarity before review.
  • Data: authors provide a data availability statement and should be prepared to provide the underlying data for editorial review.
  • Multiple or concurrent publication: authors do not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal at the same time or publish essentially the same research more than once.
  • Authorship: the author list includes everyone who meets the authorship criteria, and only them, and each author's contribution is stated using CRediT.
  • Disclosure: authors disclose conflicts of interest, sources of funding, the use of AI tools (naming each tool and its purpose), and ethical approval in the Declarations section.
  • Errors in published work: authors who discover a significant error in their published article promptly notify the editor and cooperate in its correction or retraction.

Duties of the Publisher

  • LPPM Universitas Bhinneka Nusantara guarantees the editorial independence of the journal and ensures that advertising, fees, or other revenue have no influence on editorial decisions.
  • The publisher provides the resources needed to run the journal, appoints the editorial team, and maintains the journal's policies, website, DOI registration, and archiving.
  • The publisher supports the editors in investigating ethical concerns, communicates with other journals or institutions when necessary, and ensures that corrections and retractions are published and linked to the original article.

Reporting Ethical Concerns

Anyone who suspects an ethical problem with a manuscript or published article may contact the editorial office at lppm@ubhinus.ac.id. All reports are handled confidentially in accordance with the Allegation of Research Misconduct and Complaints and Appeals policies.
