Application of the Film Production Stages Method in Documentary Photography of Cultural Acculturation in Karangantu, Banten

The Film Production Stages method is commonly used in short film production. However, this method can also be applied to documentary photography through a systematically structured narrative. Documentary Photography of Acculturation of Tribes in Karangantu, Serang City, Banten is a work of photography that discusses the phenomenon of acculturation by the Banten, Bugis, and Cirebon tribes, which is not widely known to the public due to a lack of documentation. The objective of this study is to examine the application of the Film Production Stages method in creating documentary photography accompanied by visual narratives, ensuring that the reality conveyed to the audience is more structured and communicative. This study offers a novel approach through Practice-Led Research by adapting the Film Production Stages method to documentary photography; this novelty has not been explored in previous studies, which have tended to be descriptive and technical in nature and have not emphasized the creative process as a research method.. This research is expected to provide theoretical benefits, namely to serve as a medium for the development of Visual Communication Design studies and a reference for other researchers, as well as practical benefits, namely to serve as a medium for readers to understand the Film Production Stages method as a technical guide for creating documentary photography.
