Abstract

Financial Technology (FinTech) has emerged as a key driver of financial innovation and financial inclusion in Indonesia. This review article examines the relationship between FinTech adoption and financial inclusion by synthesizing existing literature on the development of digital financial services and their contribution to improving access to financial systems. The discussion highlights the rapid growth of FinTech in Indonesia, including digital payments, mobile banking, peer-to-peer lending, and other technology-based financial services that have transformed the delivery of financial products. The review further explores the role of FinTech in expanding access to financial services, improving transaction efficiency, supporting micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and promoting economic empowerment among underserved populations. Despite these benefits, several challenges remain, including limited digital and financial literacy, cybersecurity risks, regulatory complexities, and unequal digital infrastructure across regions. To address these issues, the article emphasizes the importance of strengthening literacy programs, enhancing consumer protection, improving regulatory frameworks, and expanding digital infrastructure. The findings suggest that FinTech plays a significant role in fostering financial inclusion and supporting sustainable economic development in Indonesia. Therefore, collaborative efforts among government institutions, financial service providers, educational organizations, and technology companies are essential to maximize the potential of FinTech for inclusive growth. This review contributes to the literature by integrating current evidence on how FinTech adoption promotes financial inclusion within the context of an emerging digital economy.
